Ed Cross
Edwin Carl
CROSS died Dec. 4, 2007.
He was born in
Longmont on March 5, 1948, to Henry and Ellinor Cross.
He married Connie
Wilson in Denver on June 9, 1973. He grew up in Loveland and the
surrounding
area and lived there for the first years of his marriage. He spent a
short time
in Greeley and then lived outside of Ault in the country for a little
over 23
years.
He attended
Loveland High School, class of ’66; Northeastern Junior
College; Aims Community
College; and Colorado State University.
During his Navy
years, Ed served on the USS Enterprise, including a six month tour off
the
coast of Vietnam. He was then trained and became a Naval Special Forces
Black
Beret. After he completed training, he served a year in Vietnam on PBRs
in the
Brown Water Navy, River Division 531, the Delta Dragons. After his
return home
he finished his Navy assignments on the USS Vulcan.
Ed worked 17
years at Kodak as an electronic repair mechanic. He spent three years
at
Hewlett-Packard as an electronic technician, followed by 13 years at
Advanced
Energy doing electronic repair and then technical writing.
Ed was a member
of PBR Forces Veterans Association Inc., Gamewardens of Vietnam
Association Inc.,
and the American Legion. He and his wife, Connie, converted to
Catholicism
almost two years ago and are members of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman
Catholic Church.
Ed was an avid
reader who enjoyed fishing and travel. He took nine wonderful weeks to
travel
around the U.S. and visit family with his wife in their RV after he
received
his terminal diagnosis.
He was an
exceptional husband, father and grandfather, and a devout Christian
since he
was 24. He especially enjoyed his time working in Tokyo where he took
his wife
and son to live with him.
He is survived by
his wife, Connie; daughters and their husbands, Angela and Kirk Woerner
from
Brush, Colo., Andrea and Scott Crowder from Belgrade, Mont.; his son
and wife,
Adam and Mary Cross in Goose Creek, S.C.; six granddaughters, Hannah,
Celeste,
Abigail, Mia, Bethanie and Colleen; his brother and wife, Albert and
Effie
Cross; sister and husband, Martha and Bill Barksdale; and his mother,
Ellinor
Cross of Colorado Springs; and mother-in-law, Beth Wilson of Bozeman,
Mont.
He was preceded
in death by his father, Henry Cross; brother David Cross; and
father-in-law,
C.A. Wilson.

Seton Roman
